Commissioners authorize county administrator to reimplement employee handbook training

Some commissioners suggested a short classroom-style training while employees are on the clock; others said initial onboarding should require a departmental walkthrough and signature. A commissioner proposed authorizing the county administrator to coordinate with department heads to design and implement reissued handbook training; that motion passed on a 5-0 vote.
Board members also asked staff to consider whether the handbook itself should be revised in places and for staff to provide recommended changes when they return with a training plan.
Next steps: the county administrator will work with department heads to develop a reimplementation and retraining plan, including signature and recordkeeping processes; staff may return with recommended updates to handbook language where appropriate.
