Council approves liquor license for The Outsider Cooking Company; vice president abstains

The East Providence City Council approved a new liquor license for The Outsider Cooking Company (1055 South Broadway). The clerk identified the applicant as Victor Foley and asked him to state his intention for the license. At the podium the applicant said the restaurant is open five days a week (Wednesday–Sunday, roughly 4–9 p.m.) and that the business plans to offer beer and wine to pair with its menu.
Council members discussed approvals and asked whether all required sign-offs (police, etc.) were in place; the clerk and members confirmed necessary approvals. Council Vice President Rigo stated he would abstain from the vote because of a business conflict. After closing public comment the clerk called the roll and recorded ayes from Councilman Lawson, Councilwoman Sousa and Council President Rodericks; the vote carried (three ayes, one abstention reported). The clerk earlier also recorded routine consent actions (a small tax abatement of $444.56) and the council approved a motion to bundle license items 1 through 6 for discussion and to approve the bundled items.
