Commissioner highlights IV Can Do partnership offering energy assessments and home repairs for Illinois Valley residents

Commissioner Richardson told the board on May 27 that IV Can Do is conducting outreach to help residents “know your zone” and is partnering with the Energy Trust of Oregon to deliver no-cost home energy assessments to households served by participating utilities.
Richardson said the program provides assessments to determine whether single-family or manufactured homes qualify for incentives such as energy-efficient heating systems, insulation upgrades and heat-pump water heaters. He added that qualifying households may receive air purifiers while supplies last, and that, through a partnership with the American Red Cross, smoke detectors can be installed at no cost in homes that lack them.
Commissioner Richardson also said IV Can Do staff document additional household needs during assessments; that information has helped secure new funding for Illinois Valley residents for critical home repairs, including roofing, windows, electrical upgrades, septic repair and maintenance, and ADA-accessible improvements such as grab bars.
