Residents raise safety, maintenance and animal-welfare concerns during Harrison Township public comment

Bill Godfrey (20 Walnut Street) updated the board on activities sponsored by NTCA for the summer, thanked Dave Rankin of Faith Community Partnership for sponsoring a food program and praised the Public Works Department for quickly addressing vandalism. Tom Leyland (94 Garfield Street) said property cleanup at 63 Garfield is complete and commended volunteers and Public Works for park maintenance.
Paul Rutkowski (2604 High Street) reported problems with tall grass, motorists failing to stop at a High Street stop sign, potholes and speed bumps; he said he was directed to contact PennDOT about Freeport Road and expressed concern about a recent shooting in Sheldon Park.
Michael Klein (136 Randolph Drive) asked whether the board had authorized Commissioner Charles Dizard to inquire into Citizens Ambulance Service finances. Chairman Gary Meanor said no and stated Commissioner Dizard would not be part of the authority. Commissioner Dizard responded, "I stand chastised, and that the situation will not happen again." Commissioner Eric Bengel said he was not fully briefed on the matter.
David Rankin (2343 Rambler Drive) applauded police response to recent incidents and proposed exploring an animal-welfare location for strays and vaccinations, suggesting collaboration with the school district and the township.
