Curtis Reynolds (Harbin Engineering), representing Atlanta Way Services, told the committee the site is a former fertilizer facility damaged by a hurricane and now out of use; Atlanta Way Services plans to repair the facility, consolidate roll-off and residential loads into transfer trailers and ship larger loads to the landfill, which the company said would reduce small-vehicle trips to the landfill. Engineering clarified that a public meeting and neighborhood notification are required before the consistency letter is issued and that the planning and zoning exception process will include public notice.
The committee moved and conditionally approved the item with the notification and public-meeting requirements and a condition tying disposal to the county landfill; the clerk recorded the motion as carried with one commissioner absent.
