County adopts ordinance to authorize 2% one‑time bonuses and designates new polling location for Hayside precinct

The Dickenson County Board of Supervisors adopted an ordinance authorizing payment of a one‑time 2% bonus to compensation board employees for fiscal year 2026, as provided by recent General Assembly legislation, and separately authorized payments to locally funded county employees.
County Administrator explained the statute requires a local ordinance before the county can disburse the money. "The General Assembly passed legislation this year providing funding for a one‑time 2% bonus to all compensation board employees for the fiscal year 26 budget to be paid in June 2026," he said, and staff requested the ordinance adoption followed by a second motion authorizing payments (2% to full‑time compensation board employees and a $250 bonus to regularly scheduled part‑time county employees).
The board approved both the ordinance and the payment authorization by voice votes.
On a separate ordinance (9b), the board also approved moving the Hayside College precinct polling location from the former Hayside Town Hall to the newly renovated Russell Fort Trail Center (a former theater building). Staff said the building is expected to receive a certificate of occupancy this week and would serve as the polling place for the August primary.
Both ordinances were approved by voice vote during the meeting.
