At its February meeting the Batesville Redevelopment Commission approved several routine and development-focused actions: it awarded a $459,336.50 contract for an industrial-park retention pond, accepted a conveyance of city-owned property along Lamers Pike to the commission, authorized an offer sheet and public notice for a rest-area parcel with a bid opening set for March 30 at 1 p.m., and approved claims and financial reports for January.
Committee member (Speaker 1) moved to approve the low bid for the retention-pond project from Mike Holman for $459,336.50, which was seconded and carried on a voice vote. Chair (Speaker 3) introduced and the commission approved a resolution formally transferring the Lamers Pike property from the City of Batesville to the redevelopment commission after staff said the city council had held a public hearing and no public comments had been received.
Staff (Staff member (Speaker 2)) described the notice-of-intent and offer sheet process required to dispose of the rest-area parcel and the need to publish the notice for two consecutive weeks; the commission set the bid opening for Monday, March 30 at 1 p.m. Committee member (Speaker 5) asked whether clawback terms would be included to guard against a buyer simply holding property without development; staff said a subsequent purchase/development agreement would include development terms and conditions.
Finance presenter (Staff member (Speaker 7)) reported an ending January balance of $2,230,763 and summarized payments including a $142,000 building-support payment and smaller operating expenses; the commission approved claims after a motion and second.
Staff also noted an anticipated announcement on a Main Street MSRP/OCCR grant next week that could include a public presentation to the mayor. Sarah Lamping (Speaker 4) told the commission she has submitted her resignation to the mayor and will retire with a last day of April 3.
The commission closed the meeting after taking those actions; staff will proceed to publish the rest-area notice, finalize conveyance paperwork and continue follow-up on the financial items.
