Dawes County Board of Equalization approves four tax corrections; notes TERC correspondence

The Dawes County Board of Equalization met Aug. 12, 2025, in the commissioners room at the Dawes County Courthouse in Chadron and unanimously approved four tax corrections submitted by the assessor.
Chairman Vic Rivera called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. Commissioners Stewart and Juhlin were present. After reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, Rivera announced the location of posted Open Meetings Act information as required by LB 898.
Commissioner Stewart moved, and Commissioner Juhlin seconded, a motion to accept the agenda with an addition of correspondence provided with 24 hours' notice. The board approved the agenda by unanimous roll call (Commissioners Juhlin, Stewart and Chairman Rivera).
The board also approved its minutes from the July 8, 2025 meeting and the July 14, 2025 valuation protest hearings; both motions were made by Commissioner Stewart, seconded by Commissioner Juhlin, and passed by unanimous roll call.
Assessor Lindy Coleman presented correspondence from attorney Kent Hadenfeldt concerning a TERC appeal; the board received the correspondence and took no immediate action. The acronym “TERC” is cited in the transcript but not defined there.
Coleman then presented tax correction numbers 5381–5384. Commissioner Stewart moved to approve the corrections, Commissioner Juhlin seconded, and the board voted unanimously to approve the corrections and directed Chairman Rivera to sign.
The meeting adjourned at 9:11 a.m. The minutes note a next meeting date of July 8, 2025; that date appears inconsistent with the Aug. 12, 2025 meeting date listed on the minutes and is noted here as recorded in the meeting text.
