The proclamation also noted National Gun Violence Awareness Month and cited statewide and local data (as read into the record) on firearm deaths and domestic‑violence trends.
The commission and staff encouraged residents to join the walk and to take part in local peace‑building activities; partner organizations listed in the proclamation included the Lauderhill Peace 365 co‑chairs, the Health Foundation of South Florida, United Way of Broward County and other local nonprofits and businesses.
