County Attorney Arlan Wine told Dundy County commissioners on May 18 that Brophy Electric inspected the Max tornado siren and found it unusable. Wine said the estimated cost to replace the siren is between $10,000 and $25,000; Brandon Meyers with Region 51 Emergency Management is pursuing a grant to cover replacement costs. The siren must be functioning or removed; Wine said the damaged unit will be removed until a replacement is funded.
Sheriff Bang presented his April report, which the transcript records as 38 calls for the month and two inmates in long-term lodging—one in Red Willow County and one in Lincoln County.
Deputy Clerk Christina Collier requested executive session to protect an employee’s information; the board entered executive session at 10:15 a.m. and exited at 11:02 a.m. After the closed session, County Attorney Arlan Wine will draft a letter to the employee who was discussed and the board approved hiring a full-time employee for the County Clerk’s office. No further personnel details were disclosed at the public meeting.
The board adjourned at 11:04 a.m. and scheduled its next meeting for June 1, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
