Middletown South senior Jessica Cirillo reports school achievements to board

Jessica Cirillo, a senior at Middletown High School South, told the Middletown Township Public School District board that the school’s students had “performed exceptionally well” this season, listing local and national achievements across clubs, sports and academics.
Cirillo said South brought 30 students to the New Jersey Family Career and Community Leaders of America fall state leadership competition, with 20 competing, and that “every single one of our competitors earned a medal.” She gave a chapter tally of 12 medals — two gold, five silver and five bronze — and named students who placed at state and national levels, including Aden Denberg, who placed third nationally in an apparel and fashion challenge, and Ella Cochran, who placed third nationally in counseling and mental health services and earned first place nationally in principles of human services.
The student also reported that the boys soccer team won the school’s first-ever sectional championship and that more than 200 parents attended the school’s Nov. 18 open house. Cirillo noted other activities and recognitions including a fall play, a Dec. 2 NCAA commitment ceremony where multiple seniors signed athletic letters of intent, the Middletown South esports team’s 14–0 regular-season record, and film-student screenings at the Basie Cinemas in Red Bank.
Cirillo closed by urging the board and community to celebrate the students’ accomplishments. The board moved on to the rest of its agenda after her presentation.
