The Village Board voted to authorize the first amendment to the site lease between the Village of Fairport and T‑Mobile Northeast LLC, pending final negotiations and approval by the village manager.
Village Manager White said the amendment is part of ongoing negotiations intended to keep T‑Mobile on the village‑owned cell tower on Summit Street while the village seeks revised terms. "If you don't accept a reduction in set rate... we may look at merging our facility with somewhere else that's cheaper and you may lose all of the revenue," White said, describing the negotiating posture used by carriers and the village's efforts to retain revenue while finalizing a longer‑term arrangement.
Trustees discussed related negotiations about adding a new, separate tower on municipal operations property and noted additional provider attachments and revenue implications remain under review. White said he is reviewing lease provisions and recommended authority to finalize terms that protect village interests.
The authorization passed unanimously; staff will finalize negotiations and bring the final lease amendment for the village manager’s signature.
