Linton pool board reports $18,000 general-fund transfer, sets 2026 season and hiring window

The Linton Pool Board heard a financial update at its meeting that included a transfer of $18,000 from the city general fund after the pool closed in August.
"It was a total of 18,000," the presenter said when asked for the amount transferred. Board members also confirmed that pool chemicals for the year have been paid.
The board set the 2026 opening for Memorial Day, May 20, with hours from noon to 6 p.m. Members discussed adding a closing date in August timed to the school calendar; options considered included a Saturday closing if school started the following week.
On staffing, the board agreed to post openings for managers, lifeguards and concession workers on the city website and on Indeed. The board set a hiring timeline: post on Feb. 24 and close applications on March 13 so new hires could be in place by the end of March. The presenter and other members discussed checking which applicants already hold required lifeguard certifications and arranging certification or recertification if needed.
The board did not take a recorded vote on finances or staffing at the meeting; members treated the updates and schedule as direction for staff and volunteers to proceed. The board scheduled its next meeting for March 17 at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall.
