Alamosa commissioners back ballot measure to remove DA term limits in 12th Judicial District

The Alamosa County Board of Commissioners on May 13 unanimously approved Resolution 2026-G-5 to place a ballot measure before voters in the 12th Judicial District seeking elimination of District Attorney term limits.
County Attorney Jason Kelly explained that the 12th Judicial District comprises six counties and each county must approve identical ballot language for the change to appear on the ballot. Kelly said the county’s action is limited to placing language on the ballot and that the county would not incur election costs for campaigning. Commissioner Lori Laske moved to approve the resolution and Vice Chair Arlan Van Ry seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board separately moved, seconded and voted unanimously to show Alamosa County’s support for favorable adoption of the measure. No campaign funding or advocacy obligations were pledged by the county in the motion.
