The Alamosa County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved routine business and accepted ceremonial recognitions at its May 13 meeting.
The board (Chair Vern Heersink, Vice Chair Arlan Van Ry and Commissioner Lori Laske) approved the meeting agenda, April 22 meeting minutes, and checks for the General Account (171863–172134) and Public Health (37131–37156) after motions by Commissioner Lori Laske and second by Vice Chair Arlan Van Ry. The commissioners also approved a consent agenda that included an ALS to HDN entitlement transfer agreement, a RETAC grant signature form, a Public Health tobacco contract, JBBS contract amendment #7, SLV Regional Airport Apron Phase 1 application, and a TANF MOU with the State of Colorado.
During the ceremonial portion, the Land Use Department presented a Building Safety Month proclamation, joined by Building Inspector Todd Johnson and Permit Tech Linda Mitchell. Veterans Transportation Director Mike Lopez announced the statewide Veteran Driver Awards, naming Jerry Olivas (first), Russell Valdez (second) and Dave Heiman (third). Van Ry presented a National Police Week proclamation and Sheriff Jackson introduced members of his command staff; Sheriff Jackson said Alamosa County “has not had a fallen officer since 1973,” attributing that to improved training.
The meeting closed with no additional routine items and adjournment.
