County approves ceiling mounts for courthouse displays pending engineer sign-off and funding

County facilities staff and a CTI representative told the board that hollow columns in the courthouse courtroom prevented the originally planned wall-mounted displays. CTI recommended ceiling-mounted poles using U-strut and asked that the county authorize locations and permit the drilling needed to install hanging poles.
CTI said its materials and installer can support the displays, and staff asked that an engineer sign off on mounting points. A preliminary estimate to drill the required holes was discussed at about $800; staff said the county would request state funding for drilling costs and preferred not to assume local expense if state funds covered it. The board moved, seconded and approved authorization to proceed with installation plans and to allow drilling at no county cost if state funding is secured. Staff also asked that CTI provide proof of insurance and that the county obtain an engineer’s sign-off before physical drilling.
The authorization covers location planning and conditional approval to proceed with state-funded drilling; staff will return with documentation once engineer approval and funding are confirmed.
