Falmouth Education Foundation highlights $104,000 in grants for 2025-26, says program boosts classroom innovation

The Falmouth Education Foundation presented an impact report to the Falmouth School Committee on May 26, saying foundation grants support classroom innovation across the district.
The presenter for the foundation described a long-running program that has awarded roughly $1.9 million since 2006 and said the 2025-26 grants included 15 new projects and 16 continuing grants totaling about $104,471. The foundation cited examples of funded work: modern music-technology workstations for seventh- and eighth-grade music students at Lawrence School, library and MakerSpace materials and author visits at East Falmouth elementary, and sponsorships for student teams that provided mentoring and broader exposure.
Committee members praised the foundations role as a supplement to public budgets. "You're an asset and a privilege to have," one committee member said, thanking the foundation for supporting teachers and students. The presenter emphasized the foundation does not replace school budgeting but provides funding for programs that the district budget cannot always cover.
The foundation representative said smaller, on-demand "mini-grants" will resume this fall and that application cycles for the 2026-27 project grants will open in January, with decisions shared in April and brought to the committee for formal recognition.
The committee offered unanimous thanks for the foundation's work and invited representatives to return for future updates.
