Sheriff seeks reallocation of $37,166 in CARES UP grant funds; committee approves budget modification referral

Sheriff Scott Cicirello told the Public Safety Committee on May 6 that Allegany County’s Wellness Program has been added to the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services' knowledge bank and is being used as a statewide model. Cicirello also said his office provided support in the probation firearms case and that they are evaluating alternatives to the Code Red Community Alert System.
Cicirello requested a budget modification to reappropriate the balance of $37,166.29 in unspent New York CARES UP Sustainability Grant funds across specified sheriff’s office accounts to support wellness and related activities. The committee approved the request on a motion by Legislator Healy, seconded by Legislator Whitney, and carried; the budget modification was referred to Ways and Means for processing.
