During the May 6 meeting the Public Works Committee received progress reports on multiple facility projects and approved one property purchase.
Thomas Windus reported the DPW shop foundation and walls are about three-quarters complete and that the state inspector is satisfied with the timeline. He said RG&E has provided a temporary single-phase line and the county is awaiting final pricing for phase-3 electrical service. Windus also noted that a window at the rear of the Belmont Church nearly blew out and that staff continue to explore potential new uses for the building.
For the Conflict Defender Building, Windus said exterior touch-ups are nearly done, expanded foam has been sprayed in the basement, a supplemental heater is on order, a generator startup is scheduled, and interior door replacement is under way. Administrator Knapp reported that cameras and locks are operational and the building is expected to be ready for occupancy by the end of May; the generator will also provide backup power to the elections building.
The committee approved a request to purchase property for a water tank and access road; Windus said the motion passed on a committee vote. Knapp said staff recently completed a county-wide parking survey and are working with committee chairs and department heads to develop a parking plan to come before the committee soon.
The meeting adjourned at 2:07 p.m.
