Probation Director Jessica McKnight told the Public Safety Committee on May 6 that she promoted two employees and hired one staff member in a two‑week span, thanking Human Resources for assistance. McKnight said the recent STOP‑DWI mock crash event drew participation from every Allegany County school except Cuba‑Rushford and Fillmore and that she will provide additional details at the June meeting.
McKnight described a separate, significant public safety incident in which officers detained an individual found with 10 firearms who had held State Police and family members at gunpoint. She credited the joint response and coordination between Probation and the Sheriff's Office for resolving the incident and removing a dangerous person from the community.
Chairman Havey thanked the Probation Department for their efforts; Legislator Jennifer Ricketts‑Swales asked about school participation and McKnight provided the attendance details.
