Eagle Scout completes fire‑ring replacements at Davis Creek Regional Park

Nolan Yount, an Eagle Scout with Troop 10, presented his completed project at Davis Creek Regional Park, describing how volunteers removed 10 shallow, concrete‑encased fire rings that were poor at containing fire and replaced them with welded steel rings donated by a technical college welding class.
Yount explained the work: extraction of existing rings using sledgehammers and pickaxes, wire‑brushing and grinding to prepare replacement rings, painting with heat‑resistant coating, and installation of rings with three stakes to secure them in the ground. He said the work was completed in phases over several days with adult supervision where required by scout rules.
Commissioners praised Yount’s work and its wildfire safety benefit. "Really important work ... impressive that you put this all together," Commissioner Hill said. Chair and others thanked Yount for improving the campsite and helping reduce future wildfire risk.
The commission had no questions beyond commendations and the presentation concluded.
