The FedBike Committee opened its meeting by moving to approve the minutes from August; the Chair called for a motion, a second was recorded, and the minutes were approved by general assent.
Chair (speaker 1) updated members that the Select Board had authorized release of an RFP in late August and that the RFP is posted on the state site; a few respondents acknowledged receipt but staff are still waiting for proposals. The Chair also announced that Jeanette resigned from the committee about two weeks earlier, leaving eight members; members agreed to send a thank-you card and the Chair said she had already sent one personally.
On equipment, the Chief (speaker 6) reported two speed-tracking “white box” devices arrived that day and described their capabilities: they log date, time, vehicle speed and an estimate of vehicle size. The committee confirmed the models reviewed would not capture bicycles or pedestrians, and discussed mounting options (light poles or town-provided poles) and theft deterrence.
Administrative items: the Chair proposed moving the committee’s next meeting from Oct. 13 (Indigenous Peoples’ Day) to Oct. 20 so the town manager can attend; members agreed. A member suggested discussing extending regular meeting length (from one hour to 90 minutes), and the Chair asked the committee to put that on the next agenda.
The meeting closed with staff and members agreeing next steps: monitor RFP responses, secure and test the speed devices, and prepare to lay out Elm Street striping after paving.
