Board enters closed session to discuss labor negotiations

At its May 19 meeting the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors voted to go into closed session under Iowa Code 20.17(3) to discuss labor negotiations and collective bargaining matters. The motion to enter closed session was made by Supervisor Tim Wichman and seconded by Supervisor Susan Miller; the roll call vote recorded Shea, Wichman, Miller and Jorgensen as voting aye and Supervisor Keith Jones absent.

The board later voted to exit the closed session on a motion by Supervisor Jeff Jorgensen, seconded by Supervisor Susan Miller; the public minutes do not disclose the substance of the closed-session discussion, consistent with confidentiality for labor negotiations. No formal public action arising from the closed session is recorded in the minutes.

Because the discussion occurred in closed session, the minutes limit public disclosure to the fact of the meeting and votes to enter and exit the closed session.
