Davis County approves package of event contracts, facilities amendments, health grants and legal services

At its May 5 meeting the Davis County Commission approved a bundled set of consent and action items spanning community events, facilities work, public-health grants and legal services.
Community & Economic Development Director Kent Andersen described a receivable agreement with USA Wrestling Utah for $134,450 to host 16 events at Western Sports Park and a $5,000 sponsorship contract with PlayOn Inc. for the PlayEasy Innovators Summit. The Commission approved both agreements.
Facilities Director Lane Rose presented an amendment to Contract #2026-0121 with XCEL General Contracting for additional environmental abatement at the Bountiful Branch Library ($13,036.48) and a facade installation agreement for the Valley View Club House ($14,742). Rose also described a UDOT easement impact finding for lamp-post installation along State Road-273 and a boundary-adjustment agreement with Bountiful City to improve parking near the Bountiful Branch Library and the South Davis Senior Center. These facilities items (12–16) were approved together.
Health Director Brian Hatch presented Amendment #3 to the WIC contract ($147,438 receivable) and Amendment #5 to the Preschool Development Grant B-5 activity ($80,000 receivable) to support home visiting; the Commission approved those items plus three small community partner suicide-prevention contracts ($500–$1,000).
Human Resources introduced a contract for indigent legal defense services ($143,863.20) recommended by Legal Defender Coordinator Todd Utzinger, and an amendment correcting a pay error for a service provider. The Sheriff’s Office sought approval to apply for a Utah HMEP planning grant ($5,000) and approved a sponsorship agreement with Limitless by Lena, LLC allowing competitive shooter Lena Miculek to use county shooting-range facilities for promotional content. Other routine consent items—including event agreements, facility rentals and authorizations to solicit donations for tourism—were approved as a package.
All actions in this package were approved by motion and unanimous vote of those present. Many items were presented as routine contract approvals or minor amendments with stated financial details recorded in the minutes.
