Davis County confirms health-board appointments, accepts tobacco-prevention and DEQ grants

Brian Hatch of the Health Department presented three personnel items: reappointments of Dr. Gary Alexander and Richard Swanson (school-district risk manager) to the county Board of Health for three-year terms, and the appointment of Dr. Steven Christiansen to satisfy the board’s dentist requirement. The appointment required careful name confirmation during the meeting; staff confirmed the appointee as Steven Christiansen.
Hatch also presented two receivable agreements: an amendment with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services for tobacco-prevention funding, a receivable of $635,725 covering 07/01/2026–06/30/2027, and a GRAMA (interagency) agreement with the Utah Department of Environmental Quality for minimum performance standard work, a receivable of $86,031 for the same period. Commissioners approved the appointments and receivables by voice vote.
What’s next: the Health Department will carry out grant-funded tobacco-prevention activities during the stated grant period and onboard the newly appointed board member; contract and program implementation details will follow departmental administrative steps.
