Bogata Tenants Association reports rising demand for rental assistance and tenant outreach

El Reyes said Bogata assisted 174 tenant households in 2025 across a range of housing‑stability issues, with rental assistance requests, lease renewal and recertification help, and maintenance complaints among the top needs. He described a spike in rental‑assistance demand toward the end of 2025 and said the organization refers residents to DHS, churches, and other resources when direct monetary assistance is not available.
The group runs workshops on tenant rights, lease understanding and eviction prevention and is partnering with county planning and housing divisions on outreach tied to the comprehensive plan update. El Reyes said Bogata helps form tenant associations and supports resident councils where possible, and noted a tenant summit planned for May 16.
Commissioners thanked the group and noted ongoing coordination with county staff; Bogata urged continued tenant education and outreach as a first step to prevent evictions and minimize emergency assistance needs.
