The Fremont Business Improvement District board on May 19 approved replacing downtown flag and pole assemblies and voted to sponsor the Farmers Market with a $1,000 marketing grant.
Tom Coday called the meeting to order at 12:04 p.m. and the board approved the April 21 minutes. J. J. Bixby moved to approve the minutes and Kevin Main seconded; the motion carried 7–0.
The board considered a proposal from the city street department to replace damaged flag assemblies after repeated failures in wind. The board recorded a motion by Daniel Cech, seconded by Jazmine Deluna, to purchase the new flag and pole assemblies at a quoted cost of $4,979.04; the motion passed (recorded as 8–0). The minutes note the department had identified hardware the board expects will be more durable.
Berta Quintero moved, and Jazmine Deluna seconded, a $1,000 marketing sponsorship for Mainstreet to support the downtown Farmers Market; the motion carried, recorded as 7–0. No individual vote-by-name was recorded in the minutes for either vote; only the tallies were provided.
Board members also received updates from Dan Gillis on downtown projects. Gillis said a parking-lot project with screening is scheduled to begin July 20, 2026, with expected completion about Sept. 11, 2026; the project reportedly came in slightly above bid but was approved by the City. The City approved locations for new trashcans, benches and picnic tables and the installation process will begin soon. Several art sculptures have been installed downtown; staff noted some concerns with display stands and said signs and brochures are forthcoming.
Tom Coday reported the board remains about $40,000 short for the holiday decorations program and that the City will not provide storage for decorations; the minutes say the City is pulling back from responsibilities outside its core duties (for example, storage for banners or decorations).
The board set its next meeting for June 16, 2026, at the Fremont Art Association. Jazmine Deluna moved to adjourn at 1:11 p.m.; Kevin Main seconded and the motion carried 7–0.
Authorities cited in the meeting record included a notice that a copy of the Open Meeting Act was available in the room. The minutes did not record individual roll-call votes by name for the motions listed.
