Greenberg delays Fenmore Sewer District extension after survey errors raised

Supervisor Feiner opened a public hearing Dec. 16 on extending the Fenmore Sewer District but the board moved to adjourn the matter until its Jan. 8 meeting after the presenter said recent survey work showed closure errors.

Emilio Escaladas of Escaladas Associates told the board the subdivision plan traces back decades and that a surveyor who supplied the deed descriptions had died; Escaladas said the town's reviewing engineer found small "closure" errors in the meets-and-bounds description and that his team is recomputing the measurements so the town engineer can complete a formal review. "We are recomputing the meets and bounds, and readjusting whatever must be adjusted," Escaladas said.

Councilman Sheehan and other board members pressed for an accurate metes-and-bounds description and a confirming letter from the town engineer before any approval. Sheehan said he could not "vote for something and pretend that it's accurate" without corrected data. Staff noted that, if the town approves a filing, the county later verifies and registers deeds.

Faced with the missing engineer sign-off and the prospect of close measurement errors, Supervisor Feiner moved to adjourn the hearing to Jan. 8 so the applicant could supply corrected survey computations and the town engineer could issue its customary letter. The motion was seconded and carried.

The adjournment leaves no formal approval or denial tonight; the board asked the applicant to return with the corrected survey, the engineer's letter and any other documentation needed for county registration.
