She recorded Abel Garza with 65.37% of the vote in the mayoral contest; Wade Johnson with 24.02% (commissioner at large); Brian Gutches (also shown in the transcript later with a similar spelling) with 36.29% in the other at-large contest; Deandre Noxon with 73.12% in District 1; Barbie Tucker with 70.48% in District 2; Chris Sharp with 48.13% in District 3; and Jason Delgado with 63% in District 4.
Following the reading of returns, Mayor-elect Abel Garza moved to approve the canvassing of the votes; Commissioner Deandre Knoxon seconded. The commission approved the motion by voice vote; the chair stated the motion carried.
The canvass is recorded in a resolution cited during the meeting as “Resolution number 20 26 - 0 5 1, canvassing election returns for the City of Texas City's general election held on Saturday, 05/02/2026.” The commission did not record a roll-call tally in the minutes portion of the transcript; the body approved the canvass by voice vote during the meeting.
The body then proceeded to administer oaths of office to the declared winners and hold a ceremonial swearing-in for incoming and returning commissioners and the new mayor.
