Adam Murphy of the Lafayette Police Department explained a memorandum of understanding between the City of Lafayette and Valley Oaks Health that clarifies the partner’s role in providing mental‑health services to residents of the city’s permanent supportive‑housing project and in entering client data into the homeless information management system.
Murphy said the arrangement enables Valley Oaks to bill grant funds for services and that the state asked the city to use a third party to enter homelessness data into the statewide system. "It will be paid through grant funds... so it's no increase or outlay from the city of Lafayette," Murphy said.
Board members moved and seconded approval of the MOU. The vote approved the MOU; staff emphasized the agreement standardizes an existing working relationship rather than creating a new city-funded program.
