Resident calls for decentralized streaming pilot; another resident accuses agencies of retaliatory conduct

During the public-comment portion, two residents raised different issues with the board.

Dee Jones identified herself as an entrepreneur advocating for 3D-printed construction and decentralized streaming platforms that use "stream-to-earn" tokens. Jones urged the board to consider streaming county content on decentralized platforms as a potential non-tax revenue source to support affordable housing and workforce programs and offered to provide a white paper and additional information to staff.

Later in general public comment, Brandy Ritzma, who identified herself as a Kent County resident and a mother, told commissioners she has repeatedly sought oversight for nearly two years related to actions she said harmed her family. Ritzma said Kentwood police executed a search warrant at her child's high school and seized phones during the school day. She said internal police communications instructed officers to respond with two officers and a supervisor when possible because she speaks during commission meetings. Ritzma alleged those narratives have spread to the Kent County Sheriff's Office and that unverified claims have been repeated between agencies; she asked what oversight the board exercises when agencies reinforce unverified narratives about a citizen.

The board did not take immediate action on Ritzma's allegations during the meeting; no staff response or investigation timeline was announced on the record. The chair moved on to the next agenda item after the public comments concluded.
