Township introduces fiber, meeting-room and pool bond ordinances; hearings set for Aug. 8

The Hanover Township Committee introduced three ordinances July 11 that would fund technology and facility upgrades and improvements to the municipal pool, and scheduled public hearings on all three for Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.
Clerk read the titles: Ordinance 18-2024 would authorize Phase 5 of a multi-phase project to extend the townships fiber-optic network and install additional security cameras at critical infrastructure, with appropriation of $350,000 from the 2024 current fund and capital improvement fund. Ordinance 19-2024 would authorize Phase 2 renovations to the main public meeting room and conference room, including new chairs, with an appropriation of $100,000 from the capital improvement fund.
The committee also introduced an additional ordinance (20-2024) added during the meeting: a bond ordinance providing for improvement of the municipal pool, appropriating $1,500,000 and authorizing the issuance of $1,500,000 in bonds or notes to finance the project. The clerk said the notices and summaries will be published and the public hearing on all items is scheduled for Aug. 8 at 7:00 p.m.
All three ordinances were introduced by roll call vote and will return for public hearings on Aug. 8.
Next steps: The ordinances will be published per legal requirements and considered at the Aug. 8 public hearing, when the public may comment again before any adoption vote.
