He said a yard-waste-only option would be priced at $6 per month and that the senior discount (for residents 62 and older) would be 15% off the trash portion (the transcript reports a senior trash rate at $14.45 per month under one option).
The manager also addressed operational issues that affect recycling outcomes and cost: he said roughly 323 local households participate in the program the company currently picks up for Caseyville and that contamination rates matter — a contaminated truck (he cited about a 20% contamination threshold) can force loads to the landfill. He offered education and outreach (flyers, library or church presentations and quarterly tonnage reports) to improve participation and lower contamination.
In response to trustees’ questions, the presenter described contract-term options (five- or ten-year terms), an ability to include limited contract language allowing adjustments tied to diesel or other extraordinary cost changes, and the cost for an additional container (reported in the meeting as about $15 per quarter or roughly $5 per month). He said comparable towns pay between $20 and $30 per month depending on included services and that quarterly or annual reports could show the town's tonnage trends if Caseyville starts a mandatory recycling program.
Council members asked for follow-up information and indicated they would discuss the pricing options and potential outreach plans before any formal contract decision.
