Butch Freeman pointed out that the agenda language read "$1," and said it clearly should read "$1,000." Freeman told the board legal counsel advised against treating the discrepancy as a scrivener's correction at the meeting and recommended re‑posting the item. Freeman moved that item 5 be struck from today's docket and placed on the June 22 agenda; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The stated objective of the delay was twofold, Freeman said: to ensure the amount reflected the board's intent and, if approved at the June meeting, to include the payment in June payroll checks before the end of the fiscal year. The board did not take further action on the stipend during the meeting.
What happens next: Item 5 will be re‑noticed for the board's June 22 meeting; if the board approves it then, trustees said they expect to process the stipend in June checks.
