Council backs fundraising push for Redmond 250 fireworks; airport concessions RFP to be refined

Heather (speaker) clarified that the city website already has a sponsorship and general donation link for Redmond 250 and staff can begin pushing that link to the public.
Organizers outlined activities scheduled for Friday, June 3 in Centennial Park (morning programming and vendors) and parade plans and fireworks on July 4; historical‑landmarks reenactments and family activities such as food vendors were mentioned as part of the programming.
On airport procurement, staff reported the airport issued a single RFP with two components — food and beverage plus concessionaire services — which produced two proposals for each component. Because combining two components in one solicitation created confusion for at least one proposer, staff said they will proceed with the selection committee for the food and beverage component but seek council permission to reject and reissue the concessionaire portion to clean up scope and distribution.
Councilors and staff discussed outreach and fundraising mechanics (city site vs GoFundMe) and coordinating with partner organizations such as the downtown association to promote sponsorship opportunities. No formal procurement decision was taken at the meeting; staff will continue the selection committee process for food/beverage and return to council with a recommendation on the concessionaire procurement path.
