Englewood council honors volunteer youth coaches with certificates and ceremony

The Englewood City Council on Nov. 25 adopted Resolution 309 to formally recognize volunteer coaches who support youth sports and recreation programs. The resolution was introduced by the chair, moved by Councilman Wilson and seconded by Teshaun Warren; the council then paused its meeting to present certificates to coaches.
The chair read the resolution, describing volunteer coaches as mentors who donate time and leadership to teams including football, cheer, track and field, and others. “Tonight, I want to take a moment to celebrate the people who make our youth sports programs possible,” the chair said before calling coaches up by name to receive certificates.
The council named and presented certificates to many coaches across senior, junior and pee-wee divisions (including Vincent Hall, Maurice Outlaw, Tyrone Washington, Fulton Lucas, Jason Perez and others). The chair asked recipients to remain in front for a group photo and said a short reception would follow; the council planned to reconvene the formal meeting at 8:30 p.m.
The resolution expresses the mayor’s and council’s gratitude and directs that the document be presented in recognition of volunteers’ service. No budgetary amounts or program changes were discussed; this item was a ceremonial recognition.
