Writer Joe Dean asks Fairhope to promote low‑cost veterans show at OWA Theater

Joe Dean, the writer, director and producer of a stage production called "Salute to America and Her Veterans," spoke to the Fairhope City Council work session to ask the city to mention the February show in its newsletter and to consider sponsorship.

Dean said the musical history production — which he described as covering “1776 to Afghanistan” — is staged at the OWA Theater with mostly local actors. He told council members the production is intended to be affordable to veterans and families, listing ticket prices as $25 for general admission, $30 for preferred seating and $35 for VIP. He said the show will present flags and programs to attendees and will include period staging and songs chosen after interviews with more than 100 veterans.

Dean said he had sent invitations to state and federal dignitaries as a matter of etiquette and asked council members to let staff know if they plan to attend so the production can provide appropriate greeting and security arrangements. He also showed replica props during his remarks and described staging choices intended to honor service members.

The council thanked Dean for the presentation and for his service. Dean said staff and the show’s organizers will follow up with the city about newsletter inclusion and potential sponsorship.
