Redmond Airport projects terminal expansion as passenger traffic climbs

Redmond Airport Director Zach Bass updated city and county leaders on strengthening passenger traffic and a planned expansion of the terminal.
Bass said the airport has seen strong growth and that, if 2025 provisional numbers hold, Redmond could handle roughly 1.3 million passengers next year. “We’re gonna be looking at about 1,300,000 passengers at the airport coming in and going out,” he said, noting growth well above state and national averages.
The airport plans an approximately 80,000-square-foot expansion that will add a new concourse, seven jet bridges and about 700 new seats. Bass said construction is estimated to bring roughly 383 full-time equivalent construction jobs and about $65 million into the local economy during building; long-term operations could support additional jobs and ongoing economic activity.
Bass also said Breeze will start service to Las Vegas in March and that the airport expects four daily Portland flights this summer. He described research the airport uses when negotiating new routes, including origin/destination data and local drive-market analyses, and noted Redmond’s average domestic fare is about $32 higher than Portland’s when booked out of Redmond.
Councilors had no immediate objections and the airport staff said they will continue outreach to carriers and finalize RFPs for concessions as part of terminal build-out planning.
