The Muskego City Common Council voted on May 26 to approve a class B liquor license and a dance-hall license for Muskego Circle Events LLC, which operates events at Lake Pointe Church on Janesville Road.
A representative of Muskego Circle Events LLC told the council that recent state statutory changes affect how licenses are issued: "Up until this point, you just needed a license to sell alcohol. Now you needed a license to sell or consume," the representative said, adding the applicant has operated under a license in the past for weddings and memorials and has an LLC and a list of wholesale providers. The applicant also named several licensed bartenders who would serve events.
Council members asked about the LLC structure, whether the operation would use cash bars and who would supply beer and liquor. The clerk explained permitting steps and that dance-hall and liquor licensing often proceed together; the clerk also noted the municipality handles these pieces in conjunction when issuing new or renewed licenses.
The motion to approve was called and passed on a voice vote; the minutes record one opposed voice on the roll call.
The licenses will allow the venue to host events with on-site sales subject to the city's licensing conditions and state law.
