The Emmet County Personnel Policy Committee presented a package of proposed changes for the 2026 Emmet County Personnel Policy.
Key proposals included: raising the sheriff department’s monthly sick-accrual from eight to ten hours to align with 10–12 hour shifts; granting five weeks of vacation after 20 years of service; standardizing full-time schedules to 40, 37.5 or 30 hours per week with existing pro-rated scales for 20–29 hour employees; updating longevity pay for secondary roads at tiers of $35/$70/$105/$140 per month at 5/10/15/20 years; increasing the tile intake premium from $0.20 to $0.70 per hour; and extending longevity pay to county-budget-funded employees who work 30 or more hours per week, beginning at five years of service. The board discussed the suggestions and will vote on them at the next meeting.
The presentation was recorded as a formal submission by the Personnel Policy Committee; no final action was taken on May 19.
