Teaching assistant credited with saving choking student praised at school board meeting

"We thank you for your decisive action and skill that enables you to contribute much to your role, including an attentiveness to student safety," Dr. Burns said, calling Jankowski forward for public recognition. The board presented flowers and a certificate and thanked her for her service to the district.
The acting superintendent also noted the district received donated flowers from a local shop. The presentation closed with board members taking a photo and thanking Jankowski for her actions.
The board’s recognition was purely honorary; no formal personnel action was recorded in the meeting minutes regarding the incident.
