'One Millburn, Many Cultures' presentation highlights year‑round DEI work across the district

John Connolly introduced presenters from the C&I team and invited Miss Graff, Susie Lopez Glenn, Greg Mulford and Kristen Brindleson to describe school-level examples. Presenters cited whole‑school initiatives—Deerfield's morning meetings and multicultural read‑alouds, Glenwood's multicultural dance residency and cross-grade projects, Hartshorn assemblies and multicultural read‑alouds, South Mountain’s sustained pre‑K–4 inclusion practices, Wyoming’s bilingual poetry and Diwali learning, Washington’s Ramadan awareness breakfast organized by parents, and middle- and high-school panels and assemblies that included a Holocaust survivor visit and student-run Black Student Union events.
Greg Mulford, the district’s visual and performing arts supervisor, described arts residencies and curriculum ties that give students both “a mirror to see themselves and a window into the experience of others,” and presenters emphasized partnerships with PTOs and community groups such as the Millburn Short Hills Chinese Association.
Board members thanked the presenters and administrators; several board members praised the district’s continued focus on inclusion and noted it strengthens school culture.
