Dr. Diskin recommended Richardson’s appointment, saying, “I am recommending the Board of Education the appointment of Doctor Anne Richardson as Melbourne Middle School principal effective 07/01/2026.” The board also thanked interim principal Dr. Jill Sack for her service and said the Washington School principal position will be posted following Richardson’s move.
The personnel slate that included administrative transfers and staff approvals was approved by roll call. Counsel and the chair cautioned trustees about what may be discussed in public session: Mr. Tabakan explained that the public may vote to approve or reject personnel listed on the agenda but that the board may not properly discuss confidential personnel details in public. One trustee, Ms. Wong, said she would vote no, expressing reservations tied to concerns she had raised earlier about proposed staff reductions. The motion passed with a majority of trustees voting yes.
Also on the administrative front, Dr. Diskin recommended that Kyle Arlington be appointed as the successor to the departing administrator (effective 07/01/2026) and said the district will post the resulting human-resources vacancy. Dr. Diskin noted those personnel moves were the product of a comprehensive search process that included multiple interview committees.
The board made the approvals after an executive session convened earlier in the meeting to discuss attorney–client privileged matters; the chair said any disclosure from that session would be made at a future public meeting as permitted.
Next steps noted by the board include posting the Washington School principal vacancy and funding or scheduling follow-up administrative transitions; the district said it will publish responses to public queries on the district website within 10 school days.
