Board proclaims EMS Week, asks VDOT to accept Maple Grove streets, and approves $3,000 donation to youth AAU team

On the consent agenda the Board approved several routine resolutions and items. The Board designated the week of May 17–23, 2026 as Emergency Medical Services Week, noting the county’s EMS system comprises more than 200 career and volunteer personnel who respond to an average of about 4,500 calls annually and transport roughly 3,100 patients each year.
The Board also approved a resolution requesting the Virginia Department of Transportation accept Maple Grove subdivision streets into the state secondary highway system, contingent on the submission of Additions Form AM-4.3 and any outstanding developer fees and documents, as required by §33.2-705 of the Code of Virginia.
During public comments, Travis Richardson, coach for Team Loaded/Athletes for Awareness, requested a donation to support a girls AAU team traveling to a national tournament. The Board approved a $3,000 appropriation from the Undesignated General Fund Balance to the Team Loaded Foundation (501(c)(3)).
Supervisor Floyd W. Thomas highlighted EMS Week activities and Fire-EMS Chief Jason Loftus briefly described planned events for May 17–23. All consent items and the donation motion passed unanimously.
