Interim Director Paul Oswell told the Powhatan County Board of Social Services on March 17 that he had provided members with the board handbook and reviewed the advisory board’s statutory purpose under the Code of Virginia. He said staff managers and coordinators will attend future meetings to give updates for their program areas.
The change in meeting cadence was agreed by members during the session. Oswell said the board will meet monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 9 a.m.; Sarah Barnett, who distributed the handbook, confirmed meeting materials would be provided to members.
Board members discussed the administrative shift as a way to ensure regular program-level reporting and more timely oversight. No formal roll-call vote was recorded in the minutes for the schedule change; the minutes state the board reached agreement to move to monthly meetings.
The board set its next meeting for April 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The minutes distributed after the meeting include signature lines for Chairperson M. Stin and the Director.
