Board approves routine organizational business, adopts calendar and hears superintendent report

The Flemington-Raritan Regional School District board handled several routine organizational items at its meeting, approving minutes, taking motions to authorize temporary administrative signatures and adopting next year’s calendar, and hearing remarks from Acting Superintendent Dr. Burns.
Board president (S4) moved to authorize the past board president to sign legal documents, payrolls and warrants if necessary until signatures could be obtained; the motion was seconded and followed by a roll call request. The board also approved the regular and executive session minutes from Dec. 11, 2025 "as written," with no corrections offered.
Board members reviewed committee assignments and the board's three goals — improving communications, creating more recognition opportunities for students and staff at meetings, and responsible financial oversight — and the president asked members to indicate committee preferences so meetings could be scheduled. The board then moved to approve the district's 2026 calendar; a motion, second and roll call were recorded in the transcript.
Acting Superintendent Dr. Burns welcomed the newly seated members, congratulated board members during School Board Recognition Month and noted that this meeting was streamed live on YouTube for the first time, thanking staff who set up the stream. He also marked the 20th anniversary of J.P. Case's opening and closed his remarks by affirming district and board commitment to student success.
With the public comment periods completed and no further business offered, the president moved to adjourn and members voted in favor.
