The Milton Public Library Board of Trustees reorganized its leadership and completed routine administrative business at its March 5, 2026 regular meeting held at the Milton Library Community Room.
At the start of the meeting, Joe Duquette moved to nominate Cathy Vadnais for chair; the board approved the motion unanimously. A contested nomination for vice chair produced a 3–2 result: Henry Bonges was elected vice chair with votes from Trustee Beth Bouchard, Trustee Gillian Taylor and Bonges; Trustees Cathy Vadnais and Joe Duquette cast the other two votes. The board unanimously approved nominations of Beth Bouchard as treasurer, Gillian Taylor as secretary, and Joe Duquette as member at large.
The reorganization completes the board's slate of officers for the coming term and accompanies several administrative housekeeping actions adopted during the meeting. Joe Duquette moved, and Cathy Vadnais seconded, to keep The Islander as the library's paper of record; that motion carried unanimously. The board also voted unanimously to retain two posted locations for legal notices: Kinney Drugs at 3 Centre Drive and Raj Liquor and Beverage at 69 Middle Road.
Director Matthew Davis will create official Milton Library email accounts for newly seated trustees Henry Bonges and Gillian Taylor and will record each trustee's meeting-notification preference. The board noted that ethics-review materials will be sent directly to new trustees as part of onboarding. Treasurer Beth Bouchard agreed to visit TD Bank to begin the administrative process of removing former chair Alan Fletcher from the trustee bank account and adding Chair Cathy Vadnais.
The trustees reviewed the trustees' binder as a resource and noted the library is in year two of its five-year strategic plan; objectives are documented in the binder. The board added a discussion of the Ice House Committee to the next meeting's agenda. Chair Cathy Vadnais moved to adjourn at 6:32 p.m.; the motion was seconded by Joe Duquette and approved unanimously. The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 7, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Milton Library Community Room.
