The mayor noted cooperation on Peninsula‑wide tools such as the Pano AI camera system and the pvpready.gov “Know Your Zone” alert tool that helps residents prepare for evacuations. The city is also pursuing backup generators to support an emergency operations center, and has installed and tested outdoor sirens to provide redundant evacuation notification when power or cellphone service is unavailable.
On wildfire risk reduction, Rolling Hills officials described a council subcommittee on fuel reduction, homeowners associations’ vegetation management and periodic green‑waste collection and chipping events to support residents’ mitigation work. The mayor also pointed to public education, home‑hardening videos and cross‑jurisdictional outreach with the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.
On housing, the mayor said the city’s state housing target is 191 units; the city has permitted 53 new units so far and is reviewing other proposals. A mixed‑use 454‑unit redevelopment application on Bridal Walk was said to be undergoing environmental and geotechnical review.
The mayor encouraged residents to use city web resources for preparedness information and closed by thanking the Chamber for the invitation.
