Captain Josh Voslovic told the court the proposed deployment would place cameras at county entrances and main thoroughfares and noted that many neighboring jurisdictions are pursuing similar systems. He said the county’s share would be about 20% if the grant is awarded; commissioners and staff said the contract includes a waiver that releases the county from obligation if the grant is not awarded. “This contract is tentative in nature for if we get the MVCPA grant,” Voslovic said.
Commissioners asked about permitting with TxDOT and the longer permitting timeline required for roadside equipment; Voslovic said starting permitting early is the reason the contract language is before the court now. After discussion, the court approved proceeding with the contract and related permitting work.
Outcome: Motion to approve proceeding with the Flock Safety contract and permitting passed by voice vote.
