Staff told the council the county expected a commitment soon to meet grant deadlines.
Council discussed timing, coordination with nearby construction (a Fox Trails development) and whether heavy construction traffic might affect a new surface; staff said it could coordinate paving schedules with contractors to avoid immediate rework. The council approved a motion to accept the county’s request and to split the $100,000 match across fiscal years 2026 and 2027, and directed staff to place $50,000 in the FY26 budget.
Staff said the county would lead soliciting and managing the resurfacing work; the city’s commitment is intended to leverage the larger grant and reduce the city’s overall out‑of‑pocket cost for resurfacing that section of South Main Street. Councilors asked staff to coordinate timing with nearby developers and to confirm schedule details with county staff.
